Senior Legal Counsel (Energy Sector)
Our client, a major international player in the energy sector, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support its expanding commercial operations across multiple European markets. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned legal professional to join a fast-growing organization operating at the forefront of the energy industry.
The Role
In this position, you will support regional legal activities and ensure robust governance across a network of European entities. The role involves a mix of commercial contract support, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and participation in cross-border expansion initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing legal support to commercial divisions across various European jurisdictions.
Managing corporate governance matters, including board-level documentation and internal approvals.
Supporting compliance efforts related to energy sector regulations and data protection requirements.
Assisting with market expansion projects, including new entity setup and M&A-related activity.
Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements within the energy sector.
Contributing to the development and alignment of internal policies and processes.
Coordinating and managing external legal advisors across multiple countries.
Partnering closely with internal functions such as HR, Risk, and Business Operations.
Your Profile
Law degree from a recognised university; LLM or bar admission in a European jurisdiction is an advantage.
Strong professional background in the energy sector is essential.
Experience with energy regulatory and commercial trading frameworks (e.g., REMIT, EFET) is a significant advantage.
Minimum 5 years’ legal experience in an international company or law firm.
Excellent command of English; additional European languages are a plus.
Proactive, independent, and comfortable managing a broad cross-border remit.
