Trading Regulatory Officer / Regulatory Compliance Expert

Location: Budapest | International Energy Group

Our client is a leading international energy company with a strong European presence across natural gas, power and energy trading. We are looking for a Trading Regulatory Officer / Regulatory Compliance Expert to join its team in Budapest.

The Role

You will advise and support the business on regulatory and compliance matters, working closely with business stakeholders and the wider international regulatory team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide regulatory and compliance advice relating to financial and energy markets 

  • Support compliance with relevant trading regulations, including MiFID II/MiFIR, EMIR, REMIT and MAR 

  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business 

  • Support regulatory reporting requirements and related processes 

  • Develop and review regulatory policies, guidelines and procedures 

  • Identify potential compliance risks and support appropriate remediation 

  • Investigate and resolve regulatory matters 

  • Work closely with business, trading/front-office and other internal stakeholders 

Ideal Candidate

  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant regulatory/compliance experience is ideal, although more experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply 

  • Experience in regulatory compliance, financial regulation and/or capital markets, gained within a financial institution, bank, energy/commodity trading company or similar environment 

  • Exposure to MiFID II/MiFIR, EMIR, REMIT, MAR and other trading-related regulations is an advantage

  • Energy or commodity trading experience is an advantage – candidates with a strong financial regulatory or capital markets background are equally encouraged to apply 

  • Strong educational background

  • Excellent written and spoken English 

  • Strong analytical and communication skills and ability to work effectively in an international environment
